Behind The Scenes: How We Test Every Game

April 2, 2026 · Matthias Keller

Before anything else, we install a game on two phones: one older mid-range Android, one recent iPhone. This split is the whole point — a game can feel flawless on one and terrible on the other, and readers deserve to know which.

We commit real hours. For short games that means finishing them; for endless ones we play until we've seen the core loop honestly repeat and any paywall or grind reveals itself. First impressions lie, so we push past them.

Battery and heat get logged during a normal session, not a lab stunt. We note roughly how much charge a game eats per hour and whether the phone gets uncomfortably warm to hold.

Controls get their own attention. We test one-handed play, any tilt options, and whether the settings actually let you fix problems. A game that lets you remap or resize controls scores points with us.

Then we argue. Scores get discussed by more than one person so a single bad mood doesn't tank a game. What you read is the version we all agreed was fair.
